J PASTOR IS ROBBED Methodist Parsonage Looted for Fourth Time. BURGLARS SECURE LITTLE Grace Church Manse Object of At tack by Persistent Thieves Who Steal While Min ister Prays. While Rev. W. H. Heppe, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church, and the members of his family were attend ing church services last night and the pastor was discoursing on the puri fication of soul life, speaking from the text. "A Pressing American Need." burglars entered and ransacked the parsonage at 446 Taylor street. The burglary was discovered when the fam ily returned home, but so far as could be discovered the only article of value missing was a bracelet, the property of Mrs. Heppe. Its companion, for tunately, was being worn by the daughter. Miss Ruth. While every room was visited and the contents of numerous drawers Inspected, the rob bers did not find the strong box In which the pastor keeps his money and valuable papers. The thieves entered the residence by the sldedoor by breaking the glass which enabled them to release the two locks by which the door was barred. This is the fourth time in as many years that the parsonage of Orace Church has been broken into. Three times In the same number of years while Rev. Clarence True Wilson held the pastorate of that church, the par sonage was robbed and every time the theft was .committed when the family was attending church services. At the beginning of the conference year a few months ago. Dr. Wilson and Dr. Heppe exchanged pulpits, but the epi demic of housebreaking remains with the Taylor-street manse, the only dif ference being that Dr. Heppe is the new victim. . In three visits to the parsonage dur ing ita occupancy by Dr. Wilson, the robbers succeeded lu purloining prac tically everything of value In the line of silverware and jewelry that the pastor owned. After reporting the re peated robberies to the police, Dr. Wilson conducted an Investigation himself and succeeded In apprehend ing one of the robbers who confessed one of the thefts and served a term in the State Penitentiary. "I no longer have any fear of burg lars," said Dr. Wilson last night when informed of the fourth burglary at the Taylor-street parsonage, "for- they have already relieved me of everything of value I ever possessed and they must know that I do not now have anything they would find profitable to carry away."
